ShortcutBar is an ActiveX control that provides a Microsoft Outlook 2003 style navigation side bar for your applications. With ShortcutBar, you can present categorized information and application shortcuts to your users in a stylish and intuitive manner.
A ShortcutBar is divided into three visual areas. There is a selection of bars that the user can choose from to select a category or function. Each bar has a corresponding panel, which can contain any other control, such as a listview or a treeview. If there isn't enough room to display all the bars at once, the extra bars will be placed on the toolbar at the bottom. This space-saving design allows you to present large amounts of information in a very compact space.
ShortcutBar can automatically detect the user's color scheme and display the appropriate themed appearance, or you can specify custom colors and background pictures. A built-in ImageList supports 32-bit alpha channel icons on all Windows platforms, allowing you to display antialiased icons with shadows. Unicode support is provided for displaying international characters.
As an added bonus, we are also including the OutlookContainer control. This is an Office 2003 Style frame control that mimics that mini-container in Outlook 2003. You can use this control to provide sub-headings within ShortcutBar for different sets of information.
You might expect that a control with so many features would require adding a huge binary to your application. ShortcutBar is only 140kb!
