filesCatalog is a powerful utility for organizing, cataloging and searching your files stored on any media including hard drives, compact disks (CD-R, CD-RW, DVD), ZIP disks, tapes, flash cards etc. It scans the media, indexing the files and saving the information about them in the catalog. Some additional properties and summary information are extracted and saved for a number of file types, such as applications, Microsoft Office documents, mp3 sound files, HTML documents, Acrobat PDF documents. Afterwards you will be able to work with such a catalog even if the media where the actual files are stored is unavailable! filesCatalog doesn't use large and complex databases. Every catalog constitutes a separate file where the information about hundreds of media and thousands of files can be stored.
filesCatalog has a classical user-friendly plain interface in the Windows Explorer style. Working with the program is easy and pleasant. Any user can learn working with it in no time. In case there still appears a question, the answer can be easily found in the help file. filesCatalog is fully compatible with every 32-bit version of the Windows operating system and it supports working with the theme feature in Windows XP.
filesCatalog allows creating groups of volumes in the catalog (e.g., groups of compact disks). Likewise, you can mark any catalog items and save the list of disks, folders and files created in such a way. Besides, you can generate a report on the catalog contents in the form of a HTML file. You can search the files and media either by name or by keywords or by the description you can specify for any item in the catalog. You can search by the additional properties extracted for some file types too.
