Virtual Barbiana is an educational game in 3D for exploring the school of Don Milani. It includes a complete reconstruction of Barbiana, made in OpenGL and structured over 6 different environments (outside, Church, Smithy, Workshop, Dining Room and Studio 1 Studio 2 ), gathered in four different levels of play. The user can explore these areas by moving their avatar through the keyboard and can use a subject mode (ie from the point of view of a three-dimensional character that moves in space) or an object mode (ie, observing the character himself through a series of cameras along the way). In the virtual space are located the main learning objects used by Don Milani. The user can access individual objects it encounters along its route, obtain information about those objects and the thought of Don Lorenzo. That information is crucial to the change of level. At the end of each level you must meet certain questions, and only if you provide a sufficient percentage of correct answers you can skip to the next level. After the last series of questions at the end of the game, you can access a movie audio-video playback containig nearly full of the famous "Letter to the Judges", a key part of "Obedience is not a virtue."
The program is accompanied by 160 photographs, 20 minutes of footage and over three hours of audio comments made by professional actors of the CDRC-Florence.
